I don’t know about you, but I spend a lot of time at home. If it isn’t ABSOLUTELY necessary for me to leave the house, I’m not going to. And you know what, that’s OK. I enjoy being at home, surrounded by my favorite things. A slow morning, reading a good book, and drinking a great cup of coffee is top tier for me.
My dilemma? And maybe yours.
I find myself spending these glorious days lazing about in my pajamas. Now, don’t get me wrong. There are days when comfortable PJs are necessary. However, on days when things need to get done, more effort is required. But not TOO much.
Getting dressed should never feel like a chore. It should be treated as an opportunity to set your intentions for the day ahead. I’ve found that when I take the time to style an outfit that makes me feel confident, it does wonders for my mood. When I’m put together, my productivity increases, and by the end of the day, I feel more accomplished.
So, how do we merge the comfort of PJs with the fashion fascination of a personal style enthusiast?

Answer. We need stylish lounge-wear-esque outfits that can be pulled together with ease. Sure, we could make it REALLY easy and go with actual lounge wear, which isn’t out of the question. But we have closets full of fantastic clothes just screaming to be worn, and they shouldn’t continue collecting dust.
Obviously, these outfits will need to be made up of our most comfortable pieces. Jeans with a little give, worn in trousers, oversized button-ups, well-loved t-shirts, cozy sweaters, maxi dresses, and skirts. Basically, if you can curl up in a chair in it, eat a great meal in it, craft in it, and in general live your life in it without wanting to light it on fire, it passes the test. And by default, these outfits will be just as great when we do have to leave the house to adult.

With an idea of what pieces we need to prioritize, we can rely on styling shortcuts to make the process even easier. Like our favorite outfit formulas or focusing on a single piece as the keystone of the entire outfit. These tricks never let me down!

All that’s left are the finishing touches. Adding accessories can make an outfit come together beautifully. Playing with hair and makeup also helps bring a look to life. Styling doesn’t have to be extravagant. Less can be more when it comes to stay at home looks. A pair of earrings and a slick of gloss can be transformative.
So, if, like me, you find yourself spending your days in pajamas and would like to get more use out of your closet, try slipping into your favorite worn-in pieces. Whether staying in or running errands, dressing up should be a priority, if for no other reason than because we deserve to feel our very best!
